The Advanced Placement Summer Institute at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is a College Board endorsed summer institute. The institute will be held on the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus and is designed for both AP and Pre-AP teachers. New and experienced teachers alike are encouraged to register.
Institute Dates: Monday, July 24 – Thursday, July 27, 2017.
Check-In: 7:00am, Monday, July 24, 2017
Class hours: 8:00am – 4:45 pm
*The times listed above are tentative and subject to adjustment. Please be sure to check back again beginning June 1, 2017 for an updated agenda.
All participants are expected to attend the entire institute in order to receive the maximum contact hours and benefit from the instruction. However, we understand that there are forces beyond your control that may impede your ability to attend every hour or day. When this occurs, we must deduct the hours from your certificate.
If you know that you must be away in advance, please be sure to communicate this to us at APSI@tamucc.edu before you are out. We will communicate this with your course consultant.
If required by your school or school district, please let them know when you will not be in attendance as this may affect your district’s ability to receive any reimbursement monies that may be available.
Corpus Christi in July is hot and humid. Professional, but comfortable dress is encouraged along with walking shoes so that you will be comfortable sitting for much of the day and walking outside in the heat. The buildings may feel hot or cold to you (we do not have control of the temperature). We encourage you to bring a light sweater in case the classroom gets cold.
Clothing for science teachers: Science teachers must follow TAMU-CC lab safety rules by wearing closed-toe shoes (no sandals), long pants, laboratory coats and goggles during all lab activities.
Science Lab Safety Training
A certification of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Lab Safety training may be required. You will be notified of this requirement and provided the information you will need in order to complete the training and any additional documentation.
